Editing Services

While I will work on any type of editing, copy edits and proofreading are my favorites. Few things give me as much pleasure as inserting a missing comma into a document - hence the name of my business! 

As your editor, you can count on me to make sure that your document is perfect. I know AP, MLA and Chicago, and I currently work full-time writing in AP style. I currently work as a Content Writer for Revity. I love writing, but I love editing even more (except for my own writing. You need at least four eyes on any edited work!). 

Content editing is mostly reading while making a lot of comments. I will read through your manuscript with the following questions in mind:

Who is your audience?
What is your goal?
What do you want your audience to do?

I also look at character development, plot development, and overall reader engagement. I use Jessica Brody's "Save the Cat" beat sheet for this process. 

After I've content edited for you, you have the option to proceed to copy editing. As your editor, I will be here for you, whether our journey together ends at content editing or continues until your book is published.

While content editing is about the whole book, copy editing starts to break editing down into more bite-size pieces. Copy editing is about the structure of individual sentences and ensuring that each one is grammatically correct. This is far more time-consuming than content editing, so my rates are higher.

Proofreading breaks editing down even further. This is about punctuation in grammatically correct sentences.
